Pathway Information
What is a Pathway?
The Georgia Department of Education and Gwinnett County Public Schools consider a “pathway” to be a series of classes needed to complete a program in a specified area of interest. The pathways offered through our Health Science program are focused on occupations in the healthcare field.
Students must pass ALL THREE required courses within their chosen pathway. This pathway completion allows the student to be eligible to sit for a certification exam through nationally accredited organizations recognized by health industry professionals. The testing fees for these certification exams will be covered by the Career and Technical Education (CTE) department of Gwinnett County Public Schools. Upon passing the certification exam, the certificates will be held until the student graduates from McClure Health Science High School and provides the certifying agencies with a copy of their high school diploma.
Current Pathways Offered:
Patient Care Technician (NHA -PCT)
Health Information Management (NHA - HIM)
