Allied Health & Medicine

The Allied Health Pathway offers students a distinctive and comprehensive opportunity to explore the healthcare field. This program equips students with essential skills necessary for a rewarding medical career and culminates in the opportunity to earn a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) credential through the National Health career Association (NHA).

As part of the CCMA pathway, students gain hands-on experience and training in a wide range of clinical and administrative skills. This includes phlebotomy, where they learn safe venipuncture procedures, proper specimen handling, and basic lab tasks, as well as EKG procedures, such as electrode placement, understanding cardiac rhythms, and monitoring vital signs. In addition, students are introduced to medical terminology, patient care, infection control, and administrative responsibilities like scheduling, documentation, and insurance processing.

The CCMA credential prepares students for various roles across the healthcare system, including positions in physician’s offices, hospitals, outpatient clinics, and urgent care centers.

Students also participate in the Stop the Bleed program to enhance their emergency response capabilities and complete American Heart Association CPR training, further reinforcing their readiness to respond in urgent situations.

It’s important to note that students who enroll in this course must be in their senior year and have the capacity to engage in clinical experiences, which are an integral part of the certification process.

This allied health course not only provides students with the technical skills and credentials to begin a successful healthcare career but also empowers them to make a meaningful impact in their communities.
