Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy Operations/Fundamentals is the third course in the Health Science Career Cluster Pharmacy Technician pathway. This course provides students with the foundational knowledge and technical skills needed for careers in pharmacy services and medication management. Students develop employability skills, effective communication techniques, professional healthcare etiquette, and an understanding of the important role pharmacy technicians play in patient care. 

Throughout the course, students gain hands-on experience in pharmacy operations, including medication safety, pharmaceutical calculations, prescription processing, inventory management, drug classifications, and pharmacy law and ethics. Students also learn how to assist pharmacists in both community and institutional pharmacy settings while demonstrating accuracy, attention to detail, and professionalism. 

Upon completion of all three courses in the Pharmacy Technician pathway, students will take an End of Pathway Assessment (EOPA). The EOPA is administered through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) and provides students the opportunity to earn a nationally recognized Pharmacy Technician Certification, preparing them for entry-level employment and continued education in pharmacy and healthcare related fields.
